I am loving these newborn sessions! They are so tiny and so adorable. Sunday I had the pleasure of spending some time with Mike, Morgan, Fez and new baby Sadie. Morgan looks simply amazing for having delivered Sadie a week ago. OK so if we are counting this week today Friday Sadie is officially two weeks old. Time has already flown by. I can't wait to see this little girl grow up, slowly of course.
I believe this is my favorite family portrait of the day. I love their interaction and that you can see their love for each other and Sadie shine through.
We couldn't have a true "family" portrait with out including puppy Fez.
My favorite of Mike and Sadie.
Mother daughter bonding. Isn't that foot to die for?
Speaking of feet....
I think they will spend hours looking at her like this.
Fez is a puppy and super excited but he was so good around Sadie. They are going to be best buds.
I think Mike is excited about his new baby daughter, don't you?
I bet she has already changed so much and it hasn't even been a week! Looking forward to our next shoot, you guys are great.
If anyone out there is interested in a MoodyBaby first year package shoot me an email, they are a lot of fun.
Before we get to far here are some other Vendors who played an important part in this day. Dress: Sottero & Midgley Reception: Mulberry Art Studios absolutely gorgeous place in Lancaster, so much atmosphere. Cake: Swiss Woods Which I believe is Marcella's Mom, she made the cake and the rest of the desserts were all made by Marcella and Matt's families. They were delicious! Caterer: Rettew's Catering Flowers: Wild Flowers by Design Lori Witmer did an awesome job. Second Shooter: Steve Langdon, thanks for coming out Steve it was a pleasure!
On to the images!
Have to love the shoe shots.
I love this shot Steve got with the guys. Just a little touch up grooming, guys watching out for each other. Love it.
Marcella's first look at herself in her dress.
Not your average group shot, another one from Steve.
This was the necklace Matt's grandfather hand picked for their grandmother when he was in the war. A very special part of the day.
Always keep an eye on the groom when the bride enters!!! Matt love ya, love this moment and seeing your love for Marcella shine through at this very moment.
Here is what Matt was looking at.
You're married! Wow you are married!
Love this first dance shot. Mulberry Art Studios looked amazing, the ambiance in the room was awesome.
Not you usual bouquet shot. Its hanging along with Marcella's dads tools.
Mulberry Art Studios
And for fun, here is a behind the scenes shot from the portraits part of the day.
Be sure to watch the slideshow, there are a TON of images in it.
I hope you guys are having a wonderful honeymoon! You are luckily missing a ton of cold weather.
I have been out all day and just came home to find this fun video of an intimate get together we had back in December. Pete Malone, Jenn Childress, Sofia Negron, Ryan Estes and myself got together for some good ole fun. Yep, again we are all great friends and like to do things together. Its great to get out of the office and goof off, since we don't get normal weekends most of the time.
I am always a bit embarassed to see myself in moving film, but I guess everyone is? Jenn and Ryan win the prize for goofiest, I am a little too camera shy to be so goofy. Pete is responsible for the video and well you will get the idea. Watch for Ryan falling and Pete taking his pants off in public. Oh believe me its never a dull day with us, I wouldn't have it any other way.
Everyone is always so surprised to learn that so many of us photographers in the area hang out. We don't view each other as "the competition" we love getting together to learn and well just have some fun. Rob from Humbled Eyes along with PhotoJoe did a fantastic job of organizing this event. I didn't really know the scope of what they had in store until I showed up. Now we don't do this often and these girls are models, but its just fun to get out and practice alongside a dozen other photographers. Its actually quite a funny sight. I wasn't there the whole time and I missed the after party but I had a great time while I was there and grabbed a few shots.
Matt & Marcella are married! I can't believe it was just yesterday. I am so thrilled for them. I have known Matt for a long time and it meant a lot to me being there to document his day for him. I will have a full post in the next week but I wanted to share some favorites from the portraits.
It was cloudy all day so having a bit of a sunset yesterday was an unexpected surprise. I was really excited to get some dramatic portraits.
We did the portraits on Marcella's family farm in Lancaster. It was an amazing backdrop.
It just makes me laugh. Do you think Matt is excited to be married? He has to be one of the best jumpers I have ever seen. He has one photograph of himself that I will always remember, I think he was in high school, he is jumping higher than a car. Getting a shot of him in the air seemed like the thing to do in this situation.
Another one of Marcella, just love it.
We took a few shots in her Dads barn. It was fantastic.
They are off to warmer climates tomorrow, lucky!
You guys have a great time, such a pleasure and be sure to check back this weekend for a more in depth post.
We have been enjoying all the wild life living near our house and just discovered the other day that we have an owl nesting in the tree in front of the house. He has been spending a lot of time just hanging out and we hear him...or her...hooting at night. I can see him from my office window perfectly. Its really cool. We looked him up in our bird book and he is an eastern red screech owl. We are trying to figure out a good name for him other than "Owlie or Hootie" those are way to obvious. I was calling him David for a while but he doesn't seem like a David and what if he is not a he? We need some sort of non gender specific name like Pat. If you guys have any ideas let me know. Our other wild animal miss Alma is doing quite well. She had one little set back last week when we were on a walk she broke one of her nails, right at the base. Poor girl. The vet had to remove it completely. So she walked around in a little pink bootie cast for three days. Its off now and she is doing just fine. She is pretty much back to normal, a little stumblie now and then but she has all her spunk and personality back. Just wanted to share an animal update. Today we are doing work around the house and I am getting my gear all ready for Matt and Marcella's wedding tomorrow. Hope everyone is having a great weekend.
This past Saturday I visited Tina and Nick and met baby Ryder for the first time. It was not long ago when we did our belly session and its always amazing to see "the final product". He is so handsome and adorably cute. Not to mention his parents and grandparents couldn't be more thrilled to have him. He is the first boy to join the list of grandchildren and Tina and Nick were told they would never have children. So this has been a most momentous occasion for the whole family.
Meet the new family
They are all pretty much my favorites, love this one.
My favorite.
We call this one The Lion King shot.
Big hands, little feet
Ryder always has a leg out. No matter how much you wrap him up he finds a way to get one leg out of the blanket.
Tina looks simply amazing for giving birth two weeks ago.
It makes me smile to see images from their belly session prominently displayed in the living room, they look awesome. I also just love this image with the belly shots in back and the newly arrived baby.
Heart melter.
He was so good! He was awake for most of the session and he was so bright eyed.
Another heart melter.
Similar but I love this one too, couldn't decide which one to show.
It was so fun hanging out with you all, thank you for the shake and the wine! I can not wait to watch this little guy grow up. He is so adorable. See you in a few months.
A few weeks ago I got to visit baby Titus for the second time. He has grown so much since July! It was so enjoyable to see all his new expressions and personality come through.
We had a little breakfast
Couch time with Dad
Bouncy fun time
Naked time! Too adorable. Love his eyes.
Showing some of that personality
Quiet time on the bed with Mom and Dad
By the end of the session he was totally tuckered out! So down for a nap he went. Nighty night.
It was such a pleasure seeing you all again. I look forward to our next shoot in a few months, I can't even begin to imagine how much Titus will change from now until then.
Oh my how little Meena has grown! I couldn't get over it. I was last there in May, it feels like it was just yesterday.
So to just back track a tad to secure my point better, here is Meena this past may. Uber cuteness.
And here she is now, can you get over it? I know how parents feel, the kids grow up too fast!
Snack time, the dogs know the place to be!
My favorite family photo. Last time the session was a fathers day surprise for Ameet, it was great to have the whole family in the shoot this time.
Meena is conquering the stairs quite nicely.
Getting a better view of the star on the tree.
They used this image for their Holiday cards. Too cute.
Love the interaction here.
weee!
Uh oh! Who's getting into the pots and pans?
Enjoying story time, well turning the pages at least.
Meena is one year old! Wow. Still totally adorable and I just adore the whole family. It was great getting to spend time with you all again. Have a happy new year.
Its been so fun to watch little Ellena grow up! This shoot was especially fun for me because the last couple of times I have seen Ellena has been at Melissa and Mikes wedding, the rehearsal dinner, bachelorette party (no she didn't go out with us but she was at the house before hand), bridal shower etc.. All those events have been so crazy with people and so much going on that it was hard to have quality time. Earlier in December we did our yearly shoot for her and it was so refreshing to have a little conversation with her, she was focused on the visit and playing with her toys, ya know normal kid stuff. She is just too adorable. Melissa and Mike have done a wonderful job.
She loves her rocking horse
We had tea time, although Ellena got all the cookies!
Just random fun on the floor with the stuffed animals. Kids do the darndest things.
May have been a total mistake on my part, but it was a happy mistake. Love this one.
They didn't have their tree set up yet, but the one on the deck was "all decked out" hahaha.
I am not all that great at humor sometimes can ya tell?
Everyone braving the frigid weather that day for fun family portraits.
Love this one of Ellena and Melissa.
As usual, awesome hanging out. So bummed I missed the holiday party, but looking forward to having you guys out to the house soon!
I am so happy to finally share this wedding. Janene and Conrad were married back in November, it was the last weekend we that all the leaves were in full color. I had such an awesome time with them. Janene has such a glowing personality and between her and Conrad you couldn't help but be ear to ear smiles all day. The lovely Misty Dawn was out shooting with me. Its been so long since we last shot together, it was so fun to work with her again.
The day proved to be a typical overcast and slightly rainy November day, but the weather held on in our favor. By the time portraits came around all was dry. The ceremony was held at St. Pius X in Broomall and the reception was at the Kimberton Inn. I can't say enough good things about everybody at the Kimberton, so friendly and accommodating. Alvin's Flowers provided the amazing boquets. The bridesmaids flowers were gorgeous and the flower girls had adorable boquets as well. They were mini works of art. Janene wore a gorgeous Pronovias wedding gown accompanied by sparkling gold guess shoes. Diane Heller did an awesome job with Janene's make-up. Lets get on to some images shall we?
The flower girl boquet, a little purse, too adorable!
Getting ready, making sure to cut out the hanger straps.
Glorious shoes.
I love that Janene's wedding band is as unique as she is. Her mom's coffee table made a great backdrop for a lot of the detail shots.
Bridesmaids bouquets. See I told you they were a work of art.
Stunning bride.
Misty got this awesome shot of Conrad before the ceremony.
Janene and Conrad did something a little non traditional, he escorted her down the isle. Love catching a guests flash! Total luck when that happens.
I really enjoyed this little moment during the ceremony.
The most adorable flower girl portraits ever.
They were naturals at just being natural.
A little American Gothic going on.
Introductions, love the joy and energy.
Loved this little guy.
First Dance
This group could party! They had to move a couple of the tables out of the room because all the guests were on the dance floor all night. Two cultures becoming one, Janene's Italian side and Conrad's Haitian side. Everyone got along so well, it was one big happy family celebration. Love this shot Misty got of everyone getting down. So much fun! This was my last wedding for 2008 and it was a perfect end to an amazing year.
Don needed a bio photo, long overdue, so we decided to get them done. Don is not your typical instructor so a typical head shot would not do. We took inspiration from the 40 year old virgin and the sparkler was totally Don's vision. Our dining room was the perfect backdrop.
hehe it makes me giggle.
Never a dull day. He is too adorable.
Update on Alma! Thank you so much for all your well wishes and concerns. She is an amazing dog. She has pulled through with leaps and bounds! It was a very rough week for us during Christmas, we brought her home from the hospital on Christmas Eve. The vet techs were not totally sure we could handle the care but luckily a house full of people was just what the doctor ordered. The first couple of nights were the worst. She was very anxious and scared, crying and panting uncontrollably. It was about three days until she started standing on her own. She would just stand for a few minutes then lay down in exhaustion and sleep. She was determined and she never lost her appetite, which is key. We just took baby steps and it got to the point where she just wanted to get up and get moving. She was certainly tired of lying around all day. She is pretty much herself now. She has a bit of head tilt which most likely will not go away, she is still a tad off balance but is compensating. She just started trying to get up the stairs by herself today, she is still not steady enough for us to trust her to do it on her own. She is back to being attached to me like glue, where ever I go she goes!
I will be getting caught up on a lot over the next few weeks, some adorable baby shoots to post and long overdue slideshows from some fall weddings. I hope you all had a wonderful New Year! I am looking forward to a fantastic 2009.
My passion for photography has brought me from New Mexico to Philadelphia. I fell in love with the change of seasons, the city, and its people.
Photography has always been a part of my life. My family has a rich history of photographers: my grandfather and great grandfather were amazing photo hobbyists. I have some great photographs from my family dating back to the later 1800's and early 1900's. It's amazing to see a photograph of what your mother looked like on her wedding day, when she was pregnant with you and how young she was, because sometimes we forget I was phhotograpghed constantly as a child and having those pictures today is priceless. Photography is history. The images you make today will be passed down for generations. I love bringing that Joy to others.
I approach photography with a documentary mindset. I concentrate on light, perspective, compostion and expression. I make art that will remain with a family for generations.
